Dutton, Mary Ann; Green, Bonnie, L.; Kaltman, Stacey I.; Roesch, Darren, M.; Zeffiro, Thomas A.; Krause, Elizabeth D. (2006)

Abstract
This US article focuses on intimate partner violence (IPV) victimisation and discusses the research findings from the last 20 years on the health and mental health burden of IPV, the research issue for the next decade in terms of the pathways between IPV and adverse health outcomes, and the innovation of an integrated, interdisciplinary and biobehavioural methodology for the study of IPV. It explores the pathways that lead IPV victimisation to adverse health outcomes, including research on the psychological, neurological, behavioural, biological and physiological changes from exposure to IPV and associated with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
